March 3. INDIAN River Community College got off to a strong start Wednesday during the first night of competition at the National Junior College Athletic Association Championships, hosted by Indian River.<\/p>\n<p>The Indian River women won the 400 medley relay (4:02.50) and added a triumph in the 800 freestyle relay, winning that event by an eye-popping 46 seconds. Indian River hit the wall in the free relay in 7:41.46. Missy Helmers and Chelsea Lewis were members of both relays.<\/p>\n<p>For the men, Indian River posted a convincing decision in the 800 free relay, as the quartet of Micah Belew, Jeremy Clark, Juan Ortiz and Leo Andara registered a swim of 6:47.96. <\/p>\n<p>The negative of the day for Indian River was its disqualification in the 400 medley relay.
