THE Maryland women&#39;s swimming and diving team completed its perfect season Saturday evening, wrapping up the ACC championship at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center, per Terp reports.<\/p>\n<p>The 12th-ranked Terps, who posted an 11-0 dual meet record, including 7-0 in the conference, led from day one and finished with 655 points, dethroning defending champion Virginia, who came in second with 590.5 points. <\/p>\n<p>Senior Chrissy Miller (Seaside Park, N.J.) was named 2005 Most Valuable Swimmer. She won her second individual conference title Saturday night, taking the 100-yard freestyle. Her time of 49.67 automatically qualifies her for the NCAA Championships next month. Miller also won the 200-free Friday and was a member of three winning relays this weekend. <\/p>\n<p>The Terps concluded the meet as they started it &#8211; winning a relay. This time it was the 400-free relay, which an all-senior team of Megan Knepper (Williamsport, Md.), Cynthia Weir (Irwin, Pa.), Marina Mulyayeva (Almaty, Kazakhstan) and Miller won in school-record time of 3:20.55. The victory completed Maryland&#39;s sweep of the five relays; the Terps also won the 200- and 800-free, as well as the 200- and 400-medley relays throughout the weekend. <\/p>\n<p>Senior Elizabeth Lavell (Annapolis, Md.) finished second in the 1,650-free. Her time of 16:22.55 automatically qualifies her for the NCAA Championships. Knepper placed second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.75), and Weir came in third in the 100-free (50.72). Sophomore Amber Walter (Kalispell, Mont.) also swam in the finals of the 100-free, finishing seventh (51.28). Junior Krisztina Kovacs (Budapest, Hungary) placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.94). <\/p>\n<p>Other Terps in action tonight included sophomore Sasha Malanina (Volgograd Russia) and freshman Meghan Sackett (Cockeysville, Md.), who finished ninth and 12th, respectively, in the 1,650-free (16:44.52 and 16:49.96); junior Inbal Levavi (Kibbutz Givat Haim, Israel) and senior Caitlin Gannon (Evans City, Pa.), who placed 10th and 11th, respectively, in the 200-back (2:02.75 and 2:02.77); freshman Maya Finkler (Rishon-le-zion, Israel) and junior Barbara Sumrall (Chattanooga, Tenn.), who came in 12th and 19th, respectively, in the 100-free (51.27 and 52.08); freshman Atalie Abranovic (Kittanning, Pa.), who finished 19th in the 200-breast (2:23.08); sophomore Gigi deToll (Culpeper, Va.), who placed ninth in the 200-fly (2:03.53); and freshmen Stacie Lesneski (Gardner, Mass.) and Kirsten Jones (Lafayette Hill, Pa.), who came in 11th and 22nd, respectively, in the 200-fly (2:03.82 and 2:07.11). <\/p>\n<p>A number of Terps earned All-ACC honors, which were given to swimmers who finished in the top three in each event, as well as the members of each winning relay: <\/p>\n<p>Chrissy Miller* &#8211; 100-free (1st), 200-free (1st), 500-free (2nd), 400-free relay, 800-free relay, 400-medley relay<br \/>\nMegan Knepper &#8211; 100-back (2nd), 200-back (2nd), 200-free relay, 400-free relay, 200-medley relay, 400-medley relay<br \/>\nMarina Mulyayeva &#8211; 200-IM (1st), 200-free relay, 400-free relay, 200-medley relay, 400-medley relay<br \/>\nElizabeth Lavell &#8211; 400-IM (1st), 1,650-free (2nd), 500-free (3rd), 800-free relay<br \/>\nCynthia Weir &#8211; 100-free (3rd), 200-free relay, 400-free relay, 200-medley relay<br \/>\nGigi deToll &#8211; 100-fly (1st), 200-medley relay, 400-medley relay<br \/>\nSasha Malanina &#8211; 400-IM (3rd), 800-free relay<br \/>\nKrisztina Kovacs &#8211; 200-breast (2nd)<br \/>\nMeghan Sackett &#8211; 800-free relay<br \/>\nAmber Walter &#8211; 200-free relay<\/p>\n<p>*Most Valuable Swimmer<\/p>\n<p>Final Standings<br \/>\n1.
