SAN ANTONIO, December 4. VLAD Polyakov, a University of Alabama junior, and Nick Brunelli, an Arizona State University grad, kept up their winning ways on the final night of the three-day US Open in San Antonio.<\/p>\n
Polyakov, a Floridian who represents his native Kazakhstan internationally, won the 200 meter breaststroke by the unheard of margin of seven seconds, touching in 2:15.35. Earlier he'd won the 100m breast in 1:01.94.<\/p>\n
Brunelli, a gold medalist at the recent SC World Championships, completed his sweep of the freestyle sprints when he took the 100 free in 50.35 over Dale Rogers, 50.72. Earlier Brunelli took the 50 (22.84) and 200m free (1:51.80).<\/p>\n
Canada's Brittany Reimer struck gold in the 800 free after finishing second twice behind Costa Rican veteran Claudia Poll. Reimer clocked a nice 8:38.16 to win by over five seconds.<\/p>\n
For her part, Poll completed a sweep of the 100\/200\/400 frees with a back-half 56.63 second victory in the two-lap sprint.<\/p>\n
Two teens battled for gold in the men's 200 fly with 15 year-old Daniel Madwed outlasting 16 year-old David Mosko, 2:01.03 to 2:01.89. The women's 200 fly went to British teen Jessica Dickens at 2:13.96.<\/p>\n
Florida's Vipa Bernhardt won a close 200m breast in 2:31.56, while Ricardo Monasterio took the men's 1500 meters in 15:28.32.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
