MINNEAPOLIS, MN, November 23. DENNIS Dale, Minnesota head coach, announced the signing of two top Minnesota swimmers to national letters of intent Tuesday. <\/p>\n
Colin Lee-To from Excelsior and Adam Weis from St. Paul will compete for the Gophers in the 2005 -06 season. "We would like to close the Minnesota borders to other colleges, and we were successful in signing the two athletes that we really wanted," Dale said. "They will both have an immediate impact in our program."<\/p>\n
Lee-To, a senior at Minnetonka High School, is the Minnesota Class AA State record holder in the 50-yard freestyle (20.76). A NISCA All-American the last two years, Lee-To was the 2004 state champion in the 50 free and 100 free, where he posted a time of 46.22. Lee-To finished third in the 50-meter breaststroke and fourth in the 100 free and 100 breast at the 2004 Summer Junior Nationals. He also achieved Senior National time standards in the 50 free. He has top times of 23.55 in long course meters 50 Free and 56.95 short course yards 100 Breast. Lee-To also competes for the Mach 3 Flyers swim club. He chose Minnesota over Wisconsin and Arizona State.<\/p>\n
Weis, a senior at Cretin-Derham High School, has won the last two Minnesota state titles in the 100 butterfly and was the 2004 state champion in the 200 freestyle. He won the 200 free title by over two seconds (1:40.71) and claimed the 100 fly title in 51.26 last year. Two-time state champ in 100 fly. Weis, a 2004 NISCA All-American, finished third in the 200 butterfly at the 2004 Summer Junior Nationals. He has posted top times of 2:05.67 in long course meters 200 Fly and 1:40.71 short course yards 200 Free. Weis also competes for the STAR swim club.
