COLUMBUS, Ohio, November 7. THE Ohio State men's swimming and diving team defeated the University of Cincinnati Saturday in its home opener at the Mike Peppe Aquatic Center. The team won its second meet of the weekend, downing the Bearcats by a 153-97 score. <\/p>\n
Tommy Seay (Sr., Buffalo, N.Y.\/McKinley) claimed two events for the second time this weekend, taking the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard individual medley with times of 20.95 and 46.13, respectively. Rob Kauscher (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio\/Anderson) placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke event for the second time in as many days, and also took the 100-yard breaststroke. <\/p>\n
Gary Grant (So., Wood-Ridge, N.J.\/Bergen Catholic) placed first in the 100-yard butterfly, Nate King (So., Youngstown, Ohio\/Warren Harding) took the 500-yard freestyle and Ryan Sciortino (Sr., Maitland, Fla.\/Lake Highland) won the 1,000-yard freestyle. Daniel Novak (Fr., Sao Paulo, Brazil\/Foothill Knight, Calif.) won the 200-yard butterfly in an exciting race that came down to the very last stroke. <\/p>\n
"A few of the guys did better than what they did last night, which is good," Bill Wadley, men's head coach said. "We still have a ways to go. We are a little bit rusty and we have not raced much this year, so I am expecting that to improve as the season continues. Of course I am thrilled with the win and I hope to improve even more." <\/p>\n
The Buckeyes travel to Louisville, Ky. to take on Louisville and West Virginia Friday at 5 p.m. <\/p>\n
