GAINESVILLE, FL – Gregg Troy has been named the head coach for the men\u2019s swimming and diving program at the University of Florida. Troy, who already serves as the head coach of the women\u2019s program, will direct both Florida swimming and diving programs. <\/p>\n
Troy led the Gator women to an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in his first season at the helm of the program. Florida\u2019s jump of seven spots at the NCAA Championships (they finished 15th last year) is the biggest one-year improvement in school history. Florida posted a 9-2 dual meet record and finished fourth at the Southeastern Conference Championships. <\/p>\n
The Gator men\u2019s swimming and diving program is coming off a 17th-place finish at the NCAA Championships. “I am excited about the opportunity to lead the Gator swimming and diving programs,” said Troy. <\/p>\n
Prior to joining the Florida staff, Troy led the highly successful men\u2019s and women\u2019s programs at the Bolles School and its affiliated club program for 20 years. During Troy\u2019s tenure at the Bolles School, the Sharks claimed three mythical national high school team championships. <\/p>\n
Troy, 48, was recently named the head men\u2019s coach for the 1999 Pan American Games by USA Swimming. Troy also was the 1995 Pan American team head coach, an assistant coach at the 1996 Olympics, and was named the 1997 U.S. Olympic & United States Developmental Coach of the Year. Most recently, he acted as the head women\u2019s coach for the U.S. at the 1998 World Championships, leading the team to eight gold medals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
