GAINESVILLE, Fla, October 27. SOUTHEASTERN Conference swimming and diving kicks off with a bang on Thursday, Oct. 28, in the Stephen C. O\u2019Connell Center Natatorium as the Florida Gators host national power Georgia, both men and women.<\/p>\n
Events for the meet are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. with the men and women\u2019s one-meter diving competition. The swimming portion of the meet will begin at 4 p.m. with the 400-yard medley relay.<\/p>\n
The University also announced that their men will follow up the next day, Friday, Oct. 29, by hosting the Minnesota Golden Gophers, with the meet slated for a 4 p.m. start. The Golden Gophers are ranked seventh in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll.<\/p>\n
So far this season, the Florida women\u2019s team is undefeated, hosting a 2-0 record and are currently ranked third by the CSCAA. Wins against Florida Atlantic and Michigan kicked off the 2004-05 swimming and diving season and set pace for what the team hopes is an undefeated year. Last time against the Lady Bulldogs, the Gators outclassed the competition, 135-108.<\/p>\n
The No. 4 Gator men\u2019s swimming and diving teams also beat Georgia in their last meeting during the 2003-04 season. The men beat the Bulldogs 125-118. This season, the men have only competed against the Florida Atlantic Owls, but walked away from the Boca Raton pool with a 182-100 victory.<\/p>\n
The Lady Bulldogs will enter Gator territory with a 3-0 record, undefeated so far this season. The women\u2019s team is ranked one more than Florida\u2019s women, occupying the second seat in the CSCAA\u2019s poll. The UG men\u2019s swimming and diving teams are ranked 13 and are 2-1. Both Georgia teams will enter the O\u2019Connell Center coming off a win in their last meet against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.<\/p>\n
In the series with Georgia, the UF women\u2019s team heads the rival 12-6, while the Gator men lead 51-14-2. Both Florida teams are looking to move the winning dial up a notch and to garner another victory over the Dogs.<\/p>\n
