CROIX, VI, October 25.  MISTY Hyman won the women\u2019s division in the 9th Annual FINIS St. Croix Coral Reef Swim in her open water swimming debut and finished second overall, per reports by Bob Halk, St. Croix, US Virgin Island.<\/p>\n<p>The only swimmer to finish ahead of Misty was Alex Kostich winning the 5 mile event for the sixth consecutive year.  The race was also honored with two-time Olympian and gold medallist John Kinsella.<\/p>\n<p>More than a hundred athletes ranging in age from 12 to 70 swam from Buck Island\u2019s white sand beach and crystal clear water to the palm lined beach finish at the Buccaneer Hotel.  Race conditions featured 79 degree water and calm seas.  Turtles, dolphins, and eagle rays were all spotted by swimmers along the course.  <\/p>\n<p>Athletes traveled from as far away as Canada and Mexico to attend the event.  As with previous years, there was with a sizable west-coast contingent and teams from Seattle, Tennessee, Indiana and Illinois.<\/p>\n<p>Next year\u2019s race will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2005.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
