RIVER FALLS, WIS, October 17. COACH Bill Henderson is especially encouraged for his University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF) women\u2019s squad going into the 2004\/'05 season.<\/p>\n

Henderson describes his newcomers as "the best recruiting class in the school's history". Fourteen freshmen join the returning group of ten swimmers to strengthen the Falcon lady's team.<\/p>\n

Backstroke and sprint specialist Danielle Cesare from Orono and fly, back and IMer Maggie Olson from St. Paul head the list of incoming freshman who will help the team move out of the cellar in the WIAC. Breaststroker Marissa Merchant and distance freestyler Mallory Kind also join the team as major additions to the program. Returning veteran performers are Rachel Clark in the fly and IM; Laura Schultz in the IM and freestyles; and Kelly Deters in the sprints.<\/p>\n

The Falcon men's team has more bodies but will have to try to compensate for the loss of sprinter Brandon Van Vleet and IMer Jon Jarvis to graduation. Seniors Ryan Hawke (back and IM) and Chad Goetsch (distance freestyle) join with Junior Ryan Smaagard to lead the Falcon men this season. Newcomers Don Claveau, Tom Fritchen and Bryce Shearen will contribute to the men's team effort.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
