MALMO, Sweden, October 1, WORLD record holders Therese Alshammar and Anna Karin Kammerling highlight a squad of six men and 12 women who will represent Sweden at the 2004 FINA Short Court World Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana October 7-11, 2004.<\/p>\n
At the Grand Prix 3 selection meet (SC), Kammerling showed she is in fine form for her specialty 50 Butterfly with a :25.90, only .54 outside her global mark, scoring 980 FINA rating points. <\/p>\n
Kammerling\u2019s total trailed only fellow butterflyer Johanna Sjoberg, whose :57.70 was good for 984 points, just 1.36 from Natalie Coughlin\u2019s world standard. Both appear ready to challenge for medals-you choose the color\u2014at this month\u2019s championship.<\/p>\n
Alshammar, 50 and 100 short course world record holder, was not in the Malmo event but was apparently chosen based on earlier performances.<\/p>\n
The top male performance came from sprinter Stefan Nystrand who popped for 972 points in the 50 freestyle at :21.62.<\/p>\n
