AUSTIN, TX – The No. 2 ranked University of Texas men\u2019s swimming and diving team, behind the strength of 11 individual and relay titles and 18 NCAA automatic cuts, won its third Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship at the Jamail Texas Swimming Center. Counting UT\u2019s 17 straight titles as a member of the Southwest Conference, the Longhorns extend their conference title streak to a national-best 20 in a row. <\/p>\n
UT finished with 882.50 points, followed by Nebraska (634), Texas A&M (625.50), Iowa State (512), Kansas (452) and Missouri (313). <\/p>\n
The biggest individual highlight came from sophomore All-American Nate Dusing, who broke the oldest record left on the UT books, the 200-yard butterfly in winning his second Big 12 title of the weekend. His time of 1:44.13 not only broke Ken Flaherty\u2019s 1986 UT mark of 1:44.57, but also posted the fastest time in the country by half a second. For his performance, Dusing was named Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet. <\/p>\n
Joining Dusing on the victory stand were sophomore Matt Ulrickson, who won the 200 backstroke with a season-best time of 1:45.01, and junior Brad Aiken in the 200 breaststroke (1:59.52). The 400 freestyle relay team of junior Bryan Jones, Dusing, Ulrickson and sophomore Jamie Rauch combined to win in a nation-leading and NCAA automatic time of 2:53.84.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
