STOCKTON, Calif. July 18 — UNIVERSITY of the Pacific director of athletics Lynn King this week announced the hiring of Tim Teeter as head men\u00b9s and women\u00b9s swimming coach. Teeter succeeds Danny May, who resigned in April. <\/p>\n
Teeter has been successfully carrying double duty as both the head women\u2019s cross country coach since March 2003 and as an assistant coach with the Pacific men\u00b9s and women\u00b9s swimming programs each of the last two seasons. He will now relinquish his duties with the cross country team after directing the Tigers to their first-ever team victory with a first place showing at the Mills Invitational on Oct. 10, 2003. <\/p>\n
Teeter helped both Tiger swimming teams to Big West Conference titles in 2003, while helping guide the women\u2019s team to a first place finish and the men\u00b9s squad to a second place showing at the 2004 Big West Championships. Tim worked mainly with the stroke group swimmers (backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke and IM) during the college season. Since April, Tim has worked with the Tiger swimmers, helping them prepare for summer events and Olympic qualifying events. In his two years at Pacific, Teeter has coached 12 All-America athletes, who earned 31 All-America awards.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very excited to have the chance to lead the University of the Pacific Men's and Women's swim teams,\u201d said Teeter. \u201cUniversity of the Pacific is a great place because of the administration, other coaches, support staff and athletes with whom we work. The upcoming season will be an exciting one, and I look forward to the challenge of defending our Big West Women's title and reclaiming the Big West Men's title.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very pleased to name Tim as our new men\u00b9s and women\u00b9s swimming coach,\u201d said King. \u201cHe was highly respected as an assistant coach and has done an outstanding job in the interim with the team. I\u2019m sure with his leadership, both programs will reach even greater heights in the years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
Originally from Charles City, Iowa, Teeter is a 1995 graduate of Iowa State with a bachelor\u00b9s degree in liberal studies. He was a four-year letter winner for the Cyclones, earning Academic All-Big Eight honors as a swimmer. Teeter received his juris doctorate degree from Creighton in 1998.<\/p>\n
