With the U.S. Justice Department beginning a criminal investigation into the circumstances surrounding Salt Lake City’s successful bid for the 2002 Olympics, the other three investigations could end up taking a back seat. None of the other three: the IOC, the USOC and an independent ethics panel appointed by the Salt Lake Organizing Committee, have subpoena power. SLOC has promised cooperation with all.
