THE City of Long Beach is hosting national and international competition in swimming and water polo.  The Long Beach Aquatic Festival hosted the Janet Evans Invitational on June 10-13 and is also hosting the 2004 FINA Women\u2019s and Men\u2019s Water Polo World League Super Finals, Water Polo World League games featuring USA and Australia\u2019s Olympic Teams and the Water Polo National Age Group Championships.  <\/p>\n<p>As the Olympic hopefuls prepare for their trials, yesteryear&#39;s Olympians and Masters Swimming world record-holders will be heating up the water on July 3rd with Masters world and national swimming record attempts, triathlon and open water swimming clinics, technique clinics and other exhibitions.  (See photo: Paul Carter, world record-holder, men 45-49, 100 meter butterfly.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is quite an exciting day for Masters Swimmers, triathletes and novice swimmers,\u201d says event organizer Clay Evans from Southern California Aquatics Masters in Los Angeles.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing that the Long Beach facility consists of two 50 meter pools that were constructed specifically for the 2004 trials, not many people will get the chance to have a personal swimming experience at this facility.
