DUBAI, UAE, May 10. BULGARIAN Petar Stoychev, overall winner of the 2001, 2002 and 2003 editions, won his fourth straight 10km race in Dubai, the third event of the 2004 edition of the FINA Marathon Swimming World Cup held on May 7. Stoychev finished in 2 hours 4 minutes 56 seconds.<\/p>\n
He obtained his 14th victory in the Series of Marathon Swimming World Cup, but only his first in the 2004 tour. St\u00e9phane Gomez (FRA) second in the race in Dubai, maintains his leadership of this year\u2019s overall ranking. <\/p>\n
In the women\u2019s competition, Germany's Angela Maurer, winner of the 2002 World Cup and second in 2003, obtained her first 2004 victory. Her time of 2 hours 15 minutes 15 seconds placed her sixth overall.<\/p>\n
A total of 27 swimmers participated in the Dubai swimming marathon: 19 men from nine countries and 8 women from seven nations.<\/p>\n
The next marathon in the 2004 World Cup — a 25 km. race — will take place in Haikou, China, on June 15, 2003. <\/p>\n
