DAY Two of the Brazilian Nationals saw three additional South American records fall, bringing to four the total number broken thus far.  Three more swimmers qualified for Athens, doubling the number of qualifiers.<\/p>\n<p>Records fell in both the women&#39;s and men&#39;s 400 meters IM (see &quot;Flash!&quot; stories preceding this one) and in the men&#39;s 100m butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#39;s a quick rundown of today&#39;s highlights:<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200m Free<\/b><br \/>\nMariana Brochado won the race going 2.01.96, followed by Paula Baracho (2.02.61) and  Monique Ferreira (2.02.99). They didn&#39;t make the Olympic standard time (2.00.07) but the four fastest times will be in Athens for the 800m freestyle relay.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 Free<\/b><br \/>\nRodrigo Castro, who already made the Olympic cut (1.49.60), won the race clocking 1.50.42.  He was followed by Bruno Bonfim (1.50.54) and University of Florida&#39;s Carlos Jayme (1.51.93). Rafael Moska will join them to compose the 800 free relay in Athens.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100m Fly<\/b><br \/>\nFabiola Molina was first, clocking 1.01.59, followed by Ivi Monteiro (1.02.13) and Julia Leao (1.02.56). They had to go 59.67 to make the Olympic team.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100m Fly<\/b><br \/>\nUniversity of Florida&#39;s Gabriel Mangabeira broke the South American record during prelims, clocking 52.76. The old mark was 53.00, set by Suriname&#39;s Anthony Nesty in his gold medal-winning swm in Seoul, South Korea, in 1988.<\/p>\n<p>Mangabeira went 52.88 to win the final, guaranteeing his spot on the Olympic team. Jose Meolans from Argentina was second (54.06) and Marco Sapucaia third (54.44). Kaio Marcio, who finished fourth had already made the Olympic standard going 53.44 at the Pan American Games. Gabe and Kaio Marcio will swim in Athens.<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 400m IM<br \/>\nAnother South American record, but this time it went to Argentina&#39;s Georgina Bardach with 4.40.92. Joanna Maranhao was second with 4.48.32 , followed by Barbara Jatoba (5.00.98).  Joann will represent Brazil and Georgina will represent Argentina in Athens.  9See Flash! story)<\/p>\n<p><b.Men&#39;s 400m IM<\/b><br \/>\nThe oldest South American record finally went down. After 20 years, Thiago Pereira broke Ricardo Prado&#39;s record from 1984 Olympics (Prado was second in &#39;84 with 4.18.45) clocking 4.17. 62. Lucas Salatta was second with 4.20.64 (Salatta&#39;s prelim time was 4.19.52, exactly the Olympic standard time) and Ricardo Kojima was third with 4.32.46. Thiago and Lucas will represent Brazil on the 400 IM in Athens.  (See Flash story)<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 50m Back<\/b><br \/>\nAfter winning the 100 fly, Fabiola Molina was back to win the 50 backstroke with the time of 29.82.
