LOS ANGELES, CA – Sophomore driver George Csaszar scored two goals — including the eventual game-winner — and junior goaltender Richard McEvoy had nine saves to lead the No. 1 USC men’s water polo team to a 7-5 non-conference victory over No. 4 Stanford at the McDonald’s Swim Stadium on Sunday afternoon. <\/p>\n
Junior 2-meter man Peter Janov also scored two goals for the Trojans (17-1 overall). Junior 2-meter man James Castle and senior drivers Marko Pintaric and Erik Larson also had goals for USC. Stanford fell to 15-5 on the season. <\/p>\n
The Cardinal scored first on a goal by junior 2-meter man Jonathan Skaalen to take the early lead. But USC answered right back midway through the first quarter on a 6-on-5 goal by Janov to tie the score at 1-1. <\/p>\n
Stanford took the lead again just 27 seconds into the second quarter on another goal by Skaalen before the Trojans rallied off three straight goals to take the lead for good. <\/p>\n
