IN this, the next to the last poll and one of the more intriguing dual meet polls, the women’s side of things sees three different ties at 5th (Arizona-Stanford), 7th (Texas-ULCA), and 11th (Penn State-USC).

The UCLA women moved up generously after beating Stanford and the Maryland women moved up after their first undefeated season in recent years. This was the first time in some time that USC has moved out of the top 10 in the nation.

The men’s side of things saw the Virginia Cavaliers move up after finishing their season with only one loss (to #1 Auburn). Arizona State dropped to #15 while Pac-10 rival USC also dropped a spot or two.

With all of the movement, there was much talk about who is preparing for the upcoming Olympic Trials in July and who has their sights on the upcoming NCAA Championships in March. The fans will have to wait and see.

The Auburn men and women enjoyed a full season at the #1 spot and with only a few dual meets left in the 2003-4 season, will likely be crowned as the 2003-4 CSCAA Dual Meet Champions in the next poll period and the last dual meet poll of the season on Feb. 26, 2004.

The conference championships begin next week and continue through the end of February and the first weekend in March.

The Women’s NCAA Championship will be at the Texas A&M Natatorium March 18-20, 2004. The Men’s Championship will be held at the Nassau County Natatorium in Long Island, NY March 25-27, 2004.

Because of the Olympic year, both championships will be held in short-course meters as opposed to the traditional short-course yards format. This is being done to allow NCAA swimmers to break and set world records which are only kept in short-course meters and long-course meters (50 meter- Olympic distance) formats.

The next poll will take place Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, and the crowning of the 2003-4 DUAL MEET CHAMPION on Feb. 26th.

College Swim Coaches Association (CSCAA)
Division I Swimming and Diving Team
Dual Meet Rankings for Feb. 12, 2004

MEN’S DIV.
