ESTERO ISLAND, Fla, February 13. ESTERO Island is the place to be this summer! Located on the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida, the island will play host to the Open Water Festival, June4 \u2013 8, 2004.<\/p>\n
The festival kicks off Friday, June 4th with the USA 5K National Championships and Masters 5K Race, held Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Saturday, June 6th hosts an OPEN WATER EXTRAVAGANZA. ! Things kick off that morning with the Estero Island 1 Mile Open Water Challenge. Immediately after that, take part in the first Individual Open Water Time Trials. Swimmers will race solo over a closed 500yd course for time. Awards will go to top finishers in each age group. That evening the first annual $1,000Sunset Dash for Cash will be held. This is a 1000 yard open water sprint offering a cash purse to the top 5 male and female swimmers. The evening will culminate with a street party, and concert featuring the BRIAN HOWEBAND. Howe, the former lead singer of Bad Company, and his band will rock the streets of Ft. Myers Beach. If you\u2019ve never experienced a party in from Myers Beach\u2019s Time Square, you\u2019re in for a treat \u2013 Southwest Florida-style!<\/p>\n
If you think the action stops there, on Sunday, June 6, the USA 10K Open Water Nationals will be held as well as the first ever TEAM TIME TRIALS. The race week will come full circle finishing with the 25K Open Water Nationals on Tuesday, June 8. The 25K course will take participants around beautiful Estero Island, on a course similar to that of the Key West race route.<\/p>\n
