SCOTTSDALE, Ariz, February 10. OLYMPIC gold medalist Misty Hyman is headlining a star-studded field of presenters at the 2004 NSSA Spring Splash Seminar hosted by Hubbard Family Swim School. The event will be held March 19-21 in Phoenix, Arizona.<\/p>\n
Born and raised in the Phoenix area, Misty was one of the most dominant high school swimmers ever, breaking the world short course record in the 100m Butterfly in 1996, winning High School Swimmer of the Year awards in 1996 and 1997 and breaking National Public High School records in the 100yd Butterfly and 100yd Backstroke.<\/p>\n
Success followed her to Stanford University where she was a five-time NCAA Champion and the 1998 NCAA Swimmer of the Year. In 2000, she earned the ultimate prize for any amateur athlete, an Olympic Gold Medal. In the process of taking Gold in Sydney in the 200m Butterfly, she also set American and Olympic records.<\/p>\n
Misty commonly gives motivational speeches to groups all over around the world and is eager to speak with learn-to-swim professional in her \u201cback yard.\u201d "I have been blessed with the love, talent, support and resources to achieve my dreams. I am happy to share what I have achieved, experienced and learned throughout my life. Most importantly, though, I hope to inspire people to follow their dreams, whatever they might be.\u201d<\/p>\n
