DALLAS, Feb. 1. THE No. 13 Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team completed a perfect dual meet season away from home after posting a 144-94 defeat of SMU at Perkins Natatorium on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The Aggies (8-1) won 11 of 13 events with seniors having a hand in nine of them. A&M sprinted out to a 58-16 lead after winning the first four events. The Aggies will finish the 2003-04 season with a perfect 8-0 record away from home. <\/p>\n
Seniors Scott Mueller and Matt Rose led the charge for the Aggies by grabbing the four fastest freestyle races. Rose won the 50-yard free in 20.41 and the 100 free in 44.80 while Mueller grabbed the 200 (1:38.94) and 500-yard (4:36.29) races. Mueller's 200 free time ranks as a seasonal and team best. <\/p>\n
Seniors Scott Hansen and Josh Hill won the 200 fly (1:50.71) and 200 back (1:48.96) for the Aggies as well.<\/p>\n
Senior diver Adam Morgan earned first place on the one-meter at Perkins Natatorium for the second time in three weeks. Morgan defeated SMU freshman Philip Griffin 314.92 to 285.97. Morgan took second on the three-meter as well (332.40).<\/p>\n
The Aggies grabbed first place in both relays for the third straight meet. The foursome of Josh Hill, Alfredo Jacobo, Scott Newmann and Andrew Sullivant opened the meet with a winning time of 3:20.52 in the 400-yard medley relay while the 400 freestyle group of Ozzie Gardner, Chris Nelan, Ross Collins and Rose was first in 3:02.98. <\/p>\n
Junior Alfredo Jacobo pushed his consecutive win streak to eight in the breaststroke after cruising to first in 2:04.02 in the 200 breast.<\/p>\n
The Aggie men will complete their dual meet season by facing off against No. 4 Texas on Friday at 3 p.m. a the Student Rec Center Natatorium in College Station.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
