{"id":656211,"date":"2026-10-27T19:14:34","date_gmt":"2026-10-28T02:14:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=656211"},"modified":"2026-10-27T19:14:34","modified_gmt":"2026-10-28T02:14:34","slug":"indian-river-board-of-trustees-tables-decision-on-swimming-and-diving-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/indian-river-board-of-trustees-tables-decision-on-swimming-and-diving-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian River Board of Trustees Tables Decision on Swimming and Diving Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><em><strong>Indian River Board of Trustees Tables Decision on Swimming and Diving Program<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Indian River State College Board of Trustees has<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/sports\/college-sports\/indian-river-state-college-trustees-table-recommendation-to-eliminate-swimming-and-diving-team\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> tabled a recommendation<\/a> to get rid of the swimming and diving team.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>During a meeting in Okeechobee, the board voted Tuesday, Oct. 27, to delay <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/njcaa-powerhouse-indian-river-state-college-swimming-and-diving-in-jeopardy-of-being-cut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the president&#8217;s recommendation to eliminate the program<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>After news of the possible elimination came out, there was a lot of uproar around the college and the swimming community at large. Indian River has won more than 90 national championships in NJCAA competition, the most ever.The men have won 52 consecutive NJCAA national titles, while the women have won 48.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>The board of trustees asked the college administration to prepare a comprehensive report on the swimming and diving program.
