The Northwestern University swimming and diving teams swept Notre Dame on Friday, Oct. 23.<\/p>\n
The Wildcat women won 180-120 and the men won 186-114.<\/p>\n
Northwestern’s Oliver Kos, Joshua Staples, Stuart Seymour<\/strong> and Caden Duncan<\/strong> won the 400 medley relay in 3:05.53.<\/p>\n Kos won the 200 free (1:36.26) and 200 back (1:41.66). Seymour won the 100 back in 45.32 adn 100 fly (45.70). Staples won the 100 breast (52.67), 200 IM (1:46.43) and 200 breast (1:56.92).<\/p>\n Adam Cohen<\/strong> won 3-meter diving with 391.10 points, holding off Notre Dame’s Daniel Knapp<\/strong> (390.30), who won the 1-meter (335.85).<\/p>\n Seymour, Connor Schuster<\/strong>, Duncan and Kos won the 200 free relay in 1:17.97.<\/p>\n In the women’s meet, Chloe Sharpe<\/strong> won 1-meter diving with 267.75 points, just edging teammate Caroline Li<\/strong> (265.15). Sharpe won the 3-meter with 281.30 points.<\/p>\n Northwestern’s Zoe Nordmann<\/strong> won the 1650 free in 16:37.32 and 500 free in 4:47.77. Flawia Kamzol<\/strong> won the 100 back in 53.65 and 100 fly in 52.30. Margaret Papanicholas<\/strong> won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.91 and 200 breast in 2:11.58. Claire Mehok<\/strong> won the 200 back (1:57.05).<\/p>\n Kamzol, Aya Ferguson, Bri Deirlein<\/strong> and Amy Pan<\/strong> won the 200 free relay in 1:30.41.<\/p>\n The Irish won 12 events \u2014 six on each side \u2014 including a 19.42 50 freestyle from Shane Eckler<\/strong>, a new Norris Aquatics Center record.<\/p>\n Starting on the women’s side, the Irish began strong with a 400 medley relay victory. The winning team was composed of Emily Hamill, Gracyn Lanning, Carli Cronk<\/strong> and Hollie Widdows<\/strong> and finished with a time of 3:34.73.<\/p>\n Up next, sophomore Becky Rentz<\/strong> earned her first dual meet victory of the year, winning the 200 free with a time of 1:47.39. Cronk, a junior team captain and an individual All-American last season in the 200 fly, won the event with a time of 1:57.23.<\/p>\n Hollie Widdows<\/strong> continued her winning ways on Friday, as the junior won both the 50 and 100 free (22.55\/49.11). She has now won four of her seven individual events this season.<\/p>\n Another junior captain, Emily Kitayama<\/strong> closed out the individual wins for the women with a 200 IM first-place finish in a time of 2:02.80. It was the first dual meet win of her Irish career.<\/p>\n Turning to the men’s side, freshman James Darcy<\/strong> rewrote the record books once again on Friday, winning the 1650 free in a time of 15:14.37, which ranks ninth in program history. Darcy moved into third all-time in the 1000 free against Louisville on Friday, too.<\/p>\n The men’s side saw a pair of double winners in Eckler and Patrick Branon<\/strong>. In addition to his pool-record 19.42 winning 50 free, Eckler won the 100 free with a time of 42.79.
