Each interested host will give virtual presentations in November, and the IOC will conduct feasibility assessments ahead of a March 2027 opening of dialogue between the IOC Executive Board and candidate cities\/regions.<\/p>\n<p>Parties from the following National Olympic Committees have confirmed to have expressed interest:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Germany (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/olympics\/story\/_\/id\/50033029\/munich-bid-bring-2036-40-44-olympics-germany\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Munich<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Hungary (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidethegames.biz\/articles\/budapest-2036-olympic-bid-receives-support\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Budapest<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>India (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidethegames.biz\/articles\/india-builds-2036-case-through-major-events\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ahmedabad<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Qatar (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/olympics\/story\/_\/id\/45804489\/qatar-sets-sights-2036-olympics-creating-bid-committee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Doha<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Republic of Korea (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidethegames.biz\/articles\/seoul-north-jeolla-both-the-2036-olympics-projects\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seoul and North Joelia Province<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>South Africa (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidethegames.biz\/articles\/south-africa-olympic-dream-steering-2036-bid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Turkiye (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidethegames.biz\/articles\/istanbul-enters-sixth-olympic-quest-for-2036\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Istanbul<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The IOC set out the process steps at its June 2026 Executive Board meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland. It builds on changes from recent editions that were introduced in 2019. Among the factors that will be used to determine candidacy are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>venue masterplan and athlete experience<\/li>\n<li>funding strategy<\/li>\n<li>political and public support<\/li>\n<li>Games delivery capabilities<\/li>\n<li>legacy strategy to create long-term benefits for host communities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Potential hosts will be narrowed down, in IOC parlance, to \u201cPreferred Hosts\u201d for \u201cTargeted Dialogue\u201d by December 2028 with a targeted decision in mid-2029.<\/p>\n<p>The 2028 Summer Olympics are coming up in Los Angeles. The 2032 Games will be in Brisbane, Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was fortunate to compete at five Olympic Games, across four continents. Each had their own character,\u201d IOC President <strong>Kirsty Coventry<\/strong> said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.olympics.com\/ioc\/news\/ioc-sets-out-next-steps-for-selecting-2036-olympic-games-host\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a press release this month<\/a>. \u201cEach host brought something unique through its people, its culture and the way it chose to stage the Games. But wherever the Games take place, one thing must never change: athletes have to be at the heart of everything we do. As an athlete, you spend years working to make your Olympic dream come true. The experience you have when you finally reach the Olympic Games stays with you for the rest of your life.
