{"id":655382,"date":"2026-10-15T09:13:01","date_gmt":"2026-10-15T16:13:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=655382"},"modified":"2026-10-15T09:13:01","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T16:13:01","slug":"olympic-trials-qualifying-standards-released-for-2028-in-indianapolis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olympic-trials-qualifying-standards-released-for-2028-in-indianapolis\/","title":{"rendered":"Olympic Trials Qualifying Standards Released for 2028 in Indianapolis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Olympic Trials Qualifying Standards Released for 2028 in Indianapolis<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>USA Swimming today announced the qualifying time standards for the 2028 U.S. Olympic Team Trials \u2013 Swimming, taking place June 9-17, 2028, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n<p>The qualifying period will run from December 2, 2026, through May 30, 2028, giving athletes across the country the opportunity to achieve the standards and pursue their Olympic dreams on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe release of the Trials standards is an exciting moment for our sport because it makes the dream of becoming a U.S. Olympian feel real,\u201d said <strong>Greg Meehan,<\/strong> USA Swimming National Team Executive Director and Coach. \u201cFor athletes and coaches across the country, these times bring a new level of focus, excitement and anticipation as we continue the journey toward 2028.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The standards were developed using a predictive model that analyzed 15 years of historical results and event-specific performance trends, with the goal of producing a similar qualifying field size to 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur approach combines historical performance data with projected improvements across each event,\u201d said <strong>Patrick Murphy<\/strong>, USA Swimming Managing Director of Technology &amp;
