Day 2 of each four-day meet will feature the prelims and quarterfinal, with a semifinal on Day 3 and a final on Day 4.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe format is designed to prepare athletes for an evolving international racing landscape, giving U.S. athletes a chance to manage multiple high-intensity swims over three days in the 50m stroke events,\u201d USA Swimming said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/news\/2026\/10\/01\/tyr-pro-swim-series-adds-quarterfinal-round-in-50m-stroke-events-for-2027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Pro Swim Series will stop in Nashville on Jan. 14-17, with an emphasis on the 50 butterfly. The 50 backstroke will take center stage in Westmont March 3-6, and the Fort Lauderdale stop will be for the 50 breaststroke competitors on April 21-24. Men and women will have the same emphasis in each meet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese adjustments build on the format changes introduced in 2026 and reflect USA Swimming&#8217;s continued focus on performance development ahead of LA28,\u201d the USA Swimming release said. \u201cBy recreating the demands of championship-style racing, the TYR Pro Swim Series remains a key developmental platform for National Team and National Junior Team athletes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All other events for all three stops will be contested as prelims-finals, except for the 800 free and 1,500 free, which will have timed finals for the top eight.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/la28-time-standards-a-look-at-the-qualifying-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LA28 Time Standards: A Look at the Qualifying Process<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tinkering with the Pro Swim Series format is something USA Swimming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-announces-dates-format-changes-for-2026-tyr-pro-swim-series\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has done in recent years<\/a>. Last year, USA Swimming sought to add a little extra juice by adding prelims of the distance events and prelims-semis-finals of shorter events. In that instance, prize money was tied to the longer swimming pathways.<\/p>\n<p>This time, the emphasis is on the 50 strokes specifically, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2028-olympics-to-feature-direct-qualification-in-50s-12-qualified-relays\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an eye toward direct qualification<\/a> in the 50s for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The stroke 50s are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/breaking-ioc-approves-addition-of-50-strokes-for-los-angeles-2028-olympics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">being added for the<\/a> Los Angeles Games.
