Johnson excels in breaststroke and is a Junior National qualifier.<\/p>\n<p>He will join\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/nc-state-splashes-into-2028-recruiting-with-verbal-from-carifta-champion-jaden-mills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jaden Mills<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in Raleigh as a member of the Wolfpack&#8217;s Class of 2032.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding his commitment, he said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>&#8220;I\u2019m incredibly honored and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at NC State University! I want to thank my family, Coach Trey, Coach Greg, my teammates, and everyone who has supported me throughout my swimming journey. A huge thank you to Coach Braden and the NC State staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing program. I&#8217;m very excited for what the future holds and proud to say GO PACK!&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Johnson trains year-round with Gaston Gators and most recently competed at Junior Nationals where he finaled in the 50m breast and 100m breast. A month earlier, he had a fantastic showing at North Carolina Long Course Seniors where he earned best times in all of his events with four top-4 finishes. He was also a six-time finalist at North Carolina Short Course Seniors in December.<\/p>\n<p>His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 breast &#8211; 56.32<\/li>\n<li>200 breast &#8211; 2:02.99<\/li>\n<li>50 free &#8211; 20.81<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Currently a junior at East Gaston High School, Johnson won the 100 breast and 200 IM at the 2026 North Carolina 4A State Championships.
