Sungail is a Junior National qualifier who excels in freestyle and butterfly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She will join <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/southern-methodist-gets-2027-verbal-nod-from-sophia-richard\/\">Sophia Richard<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/smu-lands-2027-verbal-pledge-from-winter-juniors-qualifier-annabelle-nawrocki\/\"><b>Annabelle Nawrocki<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">as a member of the Mustangs\u2019 Class of 2031.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to Southern Methodist University! I want to thank my family for their unwavering support, especially my brother, whose wisdom has guided me. A special thank you to Coaches Steve and Jill for igniting my passion for this sport, and to my friends for their constant encouragement, which keeps me motivated on the pool deck. I am immensely grateful to Coach Joe, who has pushed me to grow both mentally and physically, helping me rediscover my love for swimming. Lastly, I\u2019m incredibly thankful to Coach Ozzie for this amazing opportunity. I can\u2019t wait to see what the future holds. Go Ponies!\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sungail, who trains year-round with Blue Dolfins Oviedo\/WinterPark, had five top-10 finishes at Florida Short Course Seniors in March. She earned three best times at Juniors East in December. Last summer, she took second in the 50m free at Florida Long Course Seniors before going on to final in five events at Ocala Futures.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Her best times include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">50 free &#8211; 23.39<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">100 free &#8211; 50.70<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">200 free &#8211; 1:49.54<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">50 fly &#8211; 25.63<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">100 fly &#8211; 56.13<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A rising senior at Lake Brantley High School, Sungail collected the bronze medal in the 100 free and 200 free at the 2025 Florida 4A State Championships. She placed ninth and fourth, respectively, in those events at the state meet in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SMU competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
