Four LSCs Build Innovative MEGA Swim Festival Around Pan Pacs<\/strong><\/p>\n

What if a major international swimming championship could inspire more than the elite athletes selected to compete in it?<\/p>\n

If young swimmers from across the United States could train together, race together and then sit in the front row as the world\u2019s best competed in many of the same events only a few miles away?<\/p>\n

That innovative idea became the inaugural MEGA LSC Swim Festival<\/strong>, bringing athletes from Middle Atlantic Swimming, Indiana Swimming and North Carolina Swimming for a four-day experience hosted by Southern California Swimming.<\/p>\n

100 Fly at Mission Viejo<\/p><\/div>\n

The camp culminated in two days of competition at the historic Marguerite Aquatics Complex<\/strong> in Mission Viejo<\/strong>. Each night, the athletes traveled to the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine for front-row seats at the 2026 Pan Pacific Championships.<\/p>\n

For the first time, four Local Swimming Committees coordinated an athlete-development program around a major international elite competition. The result was much more than another age-group meet.<\/p>\n

An Innovative Idea Takes Shape<\/h2>\n

The concept began in 2025 when Steve Roush,<\/strong> Executive Director of Southern California Swimming, presented it to fellow LSC leaders at the USA Swimming Annual Summit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI floated the idea at our USA Swimming Annual Summit,\u201d Roush said. \u201cWhy not have our young swimmers train together and experience watching the world\u2019s best compete in the same events? Let\u2019s set up a two-day meet in Mission Viejo.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That idea developed into a collaboration among Roush, Jamie Platt<\/strong> of Middle Atlantic Swimming, Tony Young<\/strong>, executive director of Indiana Swimming, and Amy Faulk<\/strong>, executive director of North Carolina Swimming.<\/p>\n

Greg Lockard<\/strong> and All Sports International<\/strong> coordinated the travel and logistics that brought the four delegations together in Southern California.<\/p>\n

Training, racing, travel, education and access to elite international swimming were combined into one program. The athletes could challenge themselves in the pool while building relationships with swimmers from other parts of the country.<\/p>\n

From Four LSCs to One Swimming Community<\/h2>\n

Swimmers arrived wearing the colors of their respective LSCs. Many had never met the athletes training in the next lane or sitting beside them on the pool deck.<\/p>\n

A few days in training camp quickly changed that.<\/p>\n
