And they\u2019re looking to finish out with more Pan Pacifics gold.<\/p>\n<p><strong>William Petric<\/strong> and <strong>Jamie Jack<\/strong> took home top seeds in the 200 individual medley and 50 freestyle, respectively, on Saturday at the Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine.<\/p>\n<p>Petric went 1:57.72 in the 200 IM. Jack set the meet record of 21.42 in the 50 free, downing Bruno Fratus\u2019 mark from 2014.<\/p>\n<p>All the action from the final day of prelims:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.peacocktv.com\/sports\/pan-pacific-champs-prelims-day-1\/f97aa5f5-f95f-3bb7-a049-a89eb0507ce0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Watch on Peacock\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2026\/2026-pan-pacific-champs-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2026-pan-pacific-championships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swimming World Meet Page<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>200 individual medley<\/h3>\n<p><strong>William Petric<\/strong> led the way with a time of 1:57.72 in the first event of the morning. Second was 200 back champion <strong>Yumeki Kojima,<\/strong> who went 1:57.83, edging out teammate <strong>Tomoyuki Matsushita<\/strong> by .01 seconds for second in the same heat. (Recall Kojima tied with <strong>Asaki Nishikawa<\/strong> in the 400 IM on Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/pan-pacific-championships-asaki-nishikawa-fan-yaqi-win-swim-offs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">requiring a swim off<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> led the Americans in fourth overall in 1:57.90. That\u2019s the leading pack of four. There\u2019s a gap back to <strong>Tristan Jankovics<\/strong> in fifth in 1:58.73. <strong>Rex Maurer<\/strong> is the second American in seventh in 1:59.20, with <strong>Lewis Clareburt<\/strong> rounding out the top eight. He\u2019s joined in the A final by Isaac Cooper, who was seventh overall.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s tough sledding for the Americans, though, with a ton of depth \u2026 such that <strong>Santo Condorelli<\/strong> finished eighth overall and broke 22 seconds but doesn\u2019t get a second swim. There are five Americans in the top eight and six in the top 10. <strong>Quintin McCarty<\/strong> was second in 21.56. He\u2019s A-final bound, with <strong>Jack Alexy,<\/strong> who went 21.66. Alexy edged <strong>Chris Guiliano<\/strong> by .01 seconds. Japan took the top three times in prelims, led by <strong>Shin Ohashi<\/strong> in 2:08.90. But limits on two swimmers per nation per heat mean third-place <strong>Ippei Watanabe<\/strong> is third and on the outside looking in. <strong>Yamato Fukusawa<\/strong> was second in 2:09.00, leaving World Championships silver medalist Watanabe in the B final.<\/p>\n<p>The top American was <strong>Josh Matheny<\/strong> in fourth in 2:09.90. <strong>AJ Pouch<\/strong> was a spot back in 2:10.01.
