“It’s So Bad, I’m Confused”: Adam Ramsay-Peaty Stunned After Crashing Out Of 50 Breast Prelims<\/h4>\n

Adam Ramsay-Peaty<\/strong> had no answer after crashing out of the 50m breaststroke heats at the European Championships in Paris.<\/p>\n

Ramsay-Peaty holds the world record of 25.95 in the event and won four straight European titles between 2014 and 2021.<\/p>\n

However, the three-time Olympic champion had too much ground to make up after a terrible start and he trailed home eighth in his heat and 20th \u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0overall in 27.34secs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese performances are not good enough at all,\u201d he said. \u201cI’m like it’s so bad that I’m confused. I don’t really know like where to start on a debrief but it’s not good enough for the semis of the Euros, do you know what I mean? It’s very frustrating but hoping we can figure it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a testing time for Ramsay-Peaty who broke down in tears after winning 100m breaststroke bronze at the Commonwealth Games before going on to win a further bronze and relay silver in Glasgow.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old finished fifth in the 100m and fourth in the mixed medley relay in Paris to end his unbeaten European run after winning 16 golds in 16 races, starting back in 2014.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s been working on his dive with coach Lisa Bates<\/strong> since mid-June but he was shocked by his decline. Neither did he have any answer to why it was so poor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t really know at this point,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t think it was reaction time, it\u2019s probably how I\u2019m hitting the water. We only started to deconstruct it two weeks before Rome (Sette Colli) and obviously a lot of things have gone worse since then.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I’ve just got to really change up what I’m doing, to be honest, in a sense of speaking to Lisa and looking at where we’re losing a lot of time because it is the dive and the pull-downs.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo swimming feels okay, it’s just not enough. And then that’s obviously one of my slowest in-season times. Yeah, it’s very frustrating, very frustrating. But this week is\u2014 and Commies – \u00a0I think just one of those lessons, right?<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you want it to be over because you want to get back to work, but at the same time you want to enjoy it as much as you can.\u201d<\/p>\n
