The Netherlands swimmer won the title at Roma 2022 \u2013 one of four crowns she lifted in the Eternal City \u2013 and she\u2019s in lane four in the sixth and final prelim.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sara Curtis<\/strong>, who lowered the Italian record to 52.69 during the WR race in Rome, is second seed and goes in the penultimate heat, sandwiched between <strong>Florine Gaspard<\/strong> and <strong>Beryl Gastaldello<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s 50 fly appears set to be a proper ding-dong battle. Neutral Athlete <strong>Egor Kornev<\/strong> goes in the sixth of eight heats, the Russian having set a national record of 22.59 in June and stands joint-top of the rankings. He\u2019ll be flanked by four-time Olympic medallist <strong>Kristof Milak<\/strong> on one side and 2024 world champion <strong>Diogo Ribeiro<\/strong> on the other.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sean Niewold<\/strong> set a national record of 22.69 at last month\u2019s Dutch trials and he goes alongside world silver medallist <strong>No\u00e8 Ponti <\/strong>in the penultimate heat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maxime Grousset<\/strong> also had an injury scare when he fractured his foot in June but the Frenchman\u2019s made it to the start line and will be flanked by <strong>Oleg Kostin<\/strong> and <strong>Thomas Ceccon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Neutral Athlete <strong>Anastasiya Shkurdai<\/strong> is the only woman with an entry time inside 2:08 in the 200 back. The Briton clinched the quadruple-quadruple in the Hungarian capital after winning four golds at the fourth straight European meet making it 16 golds from 16 races.<\/p>\n<p>Things have changed for the three-time Olympic champion, however, in the ensuing years and he arrives in Paris on the back of two bronze medals and a relay silver at last month\u2019s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Simona Quadarella<\/strong> and <strong>Isabel Gose<\/strong> go in the women\u2019s 800 free prelims with the composition of Monday night\u2019s men\u2019s and women\u2019s respective 4&#215;200 free finals to be decided in the morning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Start Lists\u00a0 Watch the European Championships Live (And Free!)
