MIAMI, Florida, January 9. MEMBERS of the newly-formed Race Club will be making the trek from the sunny Florida Keys to metropolitan New York this weekend to compete in a meet at Rutgers University and for media events in conjunction with NYC2012. SwimInfo<\/b> will cover the Rutgers meet, which has attracted a number of the world's top swimmers, including Holland's Inky De Bruijn.<\/p>\n
The press event will be held at Asphalt Green at 4:30pm on Tuesday January 12th. Four-time Olympic gold medalist Gary Hall Jr. will represent The Race Club on several television and radio appearances including: ESPN2\u2019s \u201cCold Pizza\u201d; local news station NY1; as well as The ABC Sports Radio Network.<\/p>\n
The swimmers coming with coach Jon Olsen (USA: 4 Olympic gold medals) to New York will include: David Carter (Australia), Michelle Engelsman (Australia), Sabir Muhammad (USA), Stavros Michaelides (Cyprus: 3-time Olympian 92, 96, 00), Gary Hall, Jr. (USA: 8 Olympic medals 96, 00), and Ozzie Quevedo (Venezuela: Olympian 00).<\/p>\n
While in New York the group will also train at the NYU swim team's facility in downtown Manhattan. <\/p>\n
The Race Club was developed in October of 2003 by eight-time Olympic medalist, Gary Hall, Jr. and David Arluck with support form the Phoenix Swim and Sport Foundation. The organization is a resource for the general public, sponsors, media, event directors, and others interested in the sport of swimming. Its programs, events, web site and newsletters provide access to some of the world's best swimmers and information on the sport. <\/p>\n
Arluck commented: "With the launch of theraceclub.net this week, we also introduce The Race Club membership program which is open to all swimmers and supporters from around the world! Additionally, our Circle of Champions program for the world's fastest swimmers currently has about 20 members.
