But the way that the swimmers queuing up sets the stage for a tense final.<\/p>\n<p>Just 0.79 seconds separated the eight A finalists on Tuesday morning at the Woollett Aquatic Center. <strong>Jack Dahlgren<\/strong> led the way in 1:55.16, but he\u2019ll have some serious chasers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/psych-sheets-released-for-u-s-nationals-several-pan-pacs-members-entered-see-full-entries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Nationals Preview<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2026-u-s-national-championships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Nationals Meet Page<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2026\/2026-toyota-national-championships-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Among them is <strong>Ilya Kharun<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ilya-kharun-seeking-world-class-butterfly-performances-at-u-s-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">back in the American fold<\/a>. The reigning Olympic bronze medalist for Canada finished second in 1:55.37. The reigning world champion <strong>Luca Urlando<\/strong> is hovering in fifth at 1:55.75.<\/p>\n<p>Those are the main contenders, but they have company. <strong>Enzo Solitario<\/strong> set a best time by 1.7 seconds to finish third in 1:55.45. <strong>Tyler Ray<\/strong> was fourth in 1:55.75. It\u2019s just .05 off his season-best time, which ranks sixth in the world in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Second was <strong>Patrick Sammon,<\/strong> another emerging contender in the U.S. sprint mix.
