{"id":648405,"date":"2026-07-28T09:47:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T16:47:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=648405"},"modified":"2026-07-28T11:07:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T18:07:11","slug":"us-national-championships-day-1-womens-prelims-bella-sims-shows-butterfly-strength","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/us-national-championships-day-1-womens-prelims-bella-sims-shows-butterfly-strength\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Nationals, Day One Women&#8217;s Prelims: Bella Sims Shows Butterfly Strength"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>US National Championships Day 1 Women&#8217;s Prelims: Bella Sims Shows Butterfly Strength<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The USA Swimming 2026 Toyota National Championships have kicked off from Irvine, California.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s events for the Day 1 prelims include the 200 butterfly, 100 freestyle, followed by the slower heats of the timed final in the 800 free.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a look at what happened during the women&#8217;s prelims:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2026\/2026-toyota-national-championships-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>National Championships: Women&#8217;s 200 Butterfly<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Bella Sims<\/strong> hinted that she would be doing more butterfly work this summer with Sandpipers before heading back to the University of Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>She put that on display in the first event of nationals, swimming to a 2:08.39 in the 200 fly to earn the top seed in the finals.<\/p>\n<p>Texas&#8217;
