The Dolphins have piled up 34 medals at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow, and more hardware is expected to be collected during the final three days of action.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 100-meter freestyle is the headliner event of the morning, with the Australian trio of Kyle Chalmers, Flynn Southam and Kai Taylor in the field. Chalmers is the reigning Commonwealth Games champion in the event, while Southam clocked a 47.09 outing on the leadoff of the 400 freestyle relay earlier in the meet. As for Taylor, he blistered a 1:44 split in the 800 freestyle relay on Sunday, propelling Australia to gold.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the men&#8217;s 100 freestyle, the Monday prelims will include the men&#8217;s 200 butterfly, women&#8217;s 400 individual medley, women&#8217;s 50 breaststroke, women&#8217;s 50 backstroke, women&#8217;s 100 breaststroke (SB8) and men&#8217;s 100 breaststroke (SB9).<\/p>\n<p>Here is an event-by-event recap of the Day Four prelims:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgow2026.com\/results\/detailed\/#\/athletic-sports-schedule\/SWM\/*\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2026-commonwealth-games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Page<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Butterfly<\/h3>\n<p>The bronze medalist in the 200 butterfly at last summer&#8217;s World Championships, Australian <strong>Harrison Turner<\/strong> led the way into the final of his main event. Turner supplied a performance of 1:56.47, which was nearly a second quicker than the 1:57.35 of New Zealand&#8217;s <strong>Lewis Clareburt<\/strong>. Checking in with the third-fastest time of the morning was England&#8217;s <strong>Ed Mildred<\/strong>, who went 1:57.99. Lurking in fifth is Scotland&#8217;s <strong>Duncan Scott<\/strong> (1:58.29).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 400 Individual Medley<\/h3>\n<p>Riding the momentum of a gold medal from the European Junior Championships, England&#8217;s <strong>Amalie Smith<\/strong> was swiftest into the final of the 400 individual medley. Smith was the lone athlete to go under 4:40, as she touched the wall in 4:39.13. An Australian trio occupied the next three positions, led by <strong>Jenna Forrester<\/strong> in 4:40.61. She was followed by <strong>Tara Kinder<\/strong> (4:41.81) and <strong>Ella Ramsay<\/strong> (4:42.75). Forrester was the champion in the 200 backstroke earlier in the meet, and also took bronze in the 400 freestyle.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Backstroke<\/h3>\n<p>Coming off a silver medal in the 100 backstroke, Canadian star <strong>Kylie Masse<\/strong> registered the only sub-28 outing of the session in the 50 backstroke. Masse went 27.79 to comfortably lead the field into the semifinals. Northern Ireland&#8217;s <strong>Danielle Hill<\/strong> was next in 28.04, with England&#8217;s <strong>Lauren Cox<\/strong> third in 28.14. Aussie <strong>Iona Anderson<\/strong>, the titlist in the 100 back, advanced fourth in 28.17.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p>The big guns in the 100 freestyle didn&#8217;t have to push at all in the opening round of the 100 freestyle, allowing England&#8217;s <strong>Gabriel<\/strong> <strong>Shepherd<\/strong> to post the fastest time of the session. Shepherd clocked in at 48,44, with Aussie <strong>Flynn Southam<\/strong> next at 48.58. Southam has already been 47.09 at the Games, his leadoff leg on Australia&#8217;s title-winning 400 freestyle relay. Wales&#8217; <strong>Matt Richards<\/strong> was third in 48,72 and fouth went to England&#8217;s <strong>Jacob Whittle<\/strong> (48.78).<\/p>\n<p>Aussie <strong>Kyle Chalmers<\/strong>, a three-time Olympic medalist in the event, cruised to fifth in 49.06, while countryman <strong>Kai Taylor<\/strong> was seventh in 49.33, the same mark as the Bahamas <strong>Lamar Taylor<\/strong>. In sixth was England&#8217;s <strong>Jacob Mills<\/strong> (49.13).<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s <strong>Lara van Niekerk<\/strong> started her march toward a gold-medal repeat by notching the fastest time of prelims in the 50 breaststroke. Van Niekerk went 30.23, almost a half-second clear of Australia&#8217;s <strong>Sienna Toohey<\/strong> (30.72), who was the bronze medalist in the 100 breaststroke. Moving on in the No. 3 position was Canada&#8217;s <strong>Sophie Angus<\/strong>, behind a time of 30.79.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Breaststroke (SB8)<\/h3>\n<p>The English duo of <strong>Brock Whiston<\/strong> (1:27.02) and <strong>Iona Winnifrith<\/strong> (1:27.04) will try to claim the top-two steps on the podium during the evening finals. They&#8217;ll be joined in the chase for the medals by Uganda&#8217;s <strong>Husnah Kukundakwe<\/strong>, who went 1:27.38.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Breaststroke (SB9)<\/h3>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s <strong>Fernando Lu<\/strong> (1:11.62) and New Zealand&#8217;s <strong>Joshua Willmer<\/strong> (1:11.99) were the only swimmers to go under 1:12 during qualifying.
