UCLA Gains 2027 Verbal From In-State Sprinter Olivia Somers<\/strong><\/p>\n

NEW COMMIT: Olivia Somers\u00a0<\/strong>of Sacramento, Calif. has opted to remain in-state for her college career after she verbally committed to the University of California, Los Angeles for Fall 2027. A talented sprint freestyler, Somers is a Junior National qualifier.<\/p>\n

She will join Lilla Kapinya<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and Alicia Budacsek<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in Los Angeles as a member of the Bruins\u2019 Class of 2031.<\/p>\n

Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m incredibly excited to announce my commitment to UCLA! Thank you to my family, the Reuter family, my teammates, Coach Derek, Adric, Coach Greg, and the UCLA coaching staff for believing in me and helping me reach this point. I couldn\u2019t be more grateful for everyone who supported me along the way. Excited for this next chapter. Go Bruins!”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Somers trains year-round with Life Time Northern California and had a great showing at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Sacramento in May where she earned best times and second-swims in all her events. She sprinted to eighth place in the 50 free at Roseville Speedo Sectionals in March after winning four individual events at the Winterfest Meet in December. Last summer, she raced to sixth in the 50m free and eighth in the 100m free at Western Zone LCM Seniors.<\/p>\n
