Caden Mahl, NAG Relay Record Holder, Verbals to In-State Buckeyes for 2027<\/strong><\/p>\n

NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>The Ohio State University has scored a new verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from in-state standout Caden Mahl\u00a0<\/strong>of Westerville, Ohio. Mahl is a multi-time Junior National qualifier and NAG relay record holder.<\/p>\n

He will join Gabriel Ardeleanu<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in Columbus as a member of the Buckeyes’ Class of 2031.<\/p>\n

Regarding his commitment, he said:<\/p>\n

“I am extremely blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to The Ohio State University! I want to thank my coaches, friends, and family for all of their support through my swimming career. Thank you to Coach Kyle Goodrich and all the coaches at COA for helping me develop into the swimmer I am today. I also would like to give a special thanks to Coach Jim Hutcheson for introducing me to the sport of swimming and laying the groundwork for a lot of my success thus far. Finally, I want to thank Coach Norm Wright, Coach Brian Schrader, and all the amazing OSU staff for all their support and this great opportunity! Go Bucks!!!”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mahl does his club swimming with Central Ohio Aquatics. In March 2026, he was part of the 15-18 Boys National Age Group record-setting 4×50 relay with a time of 1:18.41. All four splits were under 20 seconds, with Mahl clocking in a 19.64 on the second leg.<\/p>\n

He earned four best times at Juniors East back in December where he finaled in the 100 fly. Last summer, he finaled in six events at Columbus Speedo Sectionals where his highest finish was a sixth-place showing in the 50m fly before going on to earn a second swim in that event at Junior Nationals.<\/p>\n
