Berkoff\u2019s time brushes within a tenth of her American record, set last summer, at 26.97.<\/p>\n<p>All the action from prelims on Thursday:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/swimmeetresults.tech\/USA-Swimming-TYR-Pro-Swim-Series-Indianapolis-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/pro-swim-series-indianapolis-day-1-prelims-van-mathias-sets-meet-record-in-50-breast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Day 1 Prelims Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/van-mathias-blasts-american-record-in-50-breaststroke-at-tyr-pro-series-in-indy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Night 1 Men&#8217;s Finals Recap<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-ledecky-blazes-to-victory-in-1500-freestyle-at-tyr-pro-series-in-indy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Night 1 Women&#8217;s Finals Recap\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 100 butterfly<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Gretchen Walsh<\/strong> got the morning off to a flyer with a time of 55.56 in the 100 fly, grabbing the top seed by 2.5 seconds over her sister <strong>Alex Walsh,<\/strong> who went 58.08. <strong>Alex Shackell,<\/strong> swimming close to home, was second in 58.63, with <strong>Claire Curzan\u2019s<\/strong> 58.85 the only other sub-59 swim.<\/p>\n<p>Fifth was <strong>Torri Huske<\/strong> in 59.08. then came two ties. <strong>Tess Howley<\/strong> and <strong>Erika Pelaez<\/strong> were level on 59.44 for sixth. A swim-off is required to separate teens <strong>Charlotte Crush<\/strong> and <strong>Rylee Erisman,<\/strong> who tied for eighth in 59.63.<\/p>\n<p>The B final includes <strong>Liberty Clark<\/strong> in 12th and <strong>Leah Shackley<\/strong> in 13th. Of note in the B final is a best time for 14-year-old <strong>Finola Whelehan,<\/strong> the TAC Titans swimmer going 59.69 to trim 1.5 seconds off her best. She\u2019s just a second off the NAG of Curzan, set in 2019 at 58.61.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 100 butterfly<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Kaii Winkler<\/strong> led the way in 51.52, the German international the only one to break 52 and followed by a parade of 10 52s. <strong>Dylan Carter<\/strong> was first among them in 52.23, .02 up on <strong>Ilya Kharun. Thomas Heilman<\/strong> and <strong>Ole Eidam<\/strong> tied for fourth in 52.54. <strong>Dare Rose<\/strong> was sixth in 52.74. <strong>Maxim Skazobtsov<\/strong> and <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> round out the top eight.<\/p>\n<p>In 11th place was <strong>Caeleb Dressel,<\/strong> who went 52.98. He\u2019ll swim in the B final.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 200 breaststroke<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Kate Douglass<\/strong> led the way with a time of 2:25.28, the meet and American record holder out in front by nearly three seconds. Second place went to <strong>Alex Walsh,<\/strong> on the back end of a double, in 2:27.99.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aimee Canny<\/strong> had a rare swim that didn\u2019t result in a South African record this week, thanks to the impressive depth in that program\u2019s breaststroke history. Canny was third in 2:28.64.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elizabeth Nawrocki, Adalene Robillard<\/strong> and <strong>Eneli Jefimova<\/strong> all cracked 2:30 to reach the A final, joined by <strong>Katie Christopherson<\/strong> and <strong>Sophia Umstead.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 200 breaststroke<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Luke Barr<\/strong> posted the fastest time in the morning at 2:11.98, a best time for the 23-year-old and an improvement by nearly a second on the PB he set last month. <strong>Josh Bey<\/strong> was second, flying the flag of Indiana, in 2:12.61, with <strong>Jed Garner<\/strong> of Towson third in 2:12.92.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charlie Egeland<\/strong> was third, joined in the 2:13s by <strong>Finnley Conklin, Denis Petrashov<\/strong> and <strong>Josh Matheny. Wilson York,<\/strong> a 16-year-old, rounded out the top eight in 2:14.48.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 50 backstroke<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Katharine Berkoff\u2019s<\/strong> was the swim of the morning, going 27.05 to instantly challenge her year-old American record of 26.97. She\u2019s the leader but only by a tenth over <strong>Isabelle Stadden,<\/strong> whose impressive form continues. She set a best time of 27.18 for second in what might be a two-horse race.<\/p>\n<p>Veteran <strong>Olivia Smoliga<\/strong> was third in 27.78, two tenths up on Claire Curzan, who has a time of 27.26 in her past. Olympian <strong>Rhyan White<\/strong> was fifth in 28.01, .02 up on <strong>Maggie Wanezek<\/strong> and .06 ahead of <strong>Kaitlyn Owens. Leah Shackley\u2019s<\/strong> 28.15 rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<p>No room for <strong>Erika Pelaez,<\/strong> who was ninth. <strong>Gretchen Walsh<\/strong> finished 10th in 28.24. Also in the B final are <strong>Anna Peplowski<\/strong> in 12th and <strong>Phoebe Bacon<\/strong> in 13th.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 50 backstroke<\/h4>\n<p>Fresh off his win in the 100 back, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/with-a-family-and-full-time-job-ryan-murphy-chasing-return-to-backstroke-elite-in-time-for-los-angeles-olympics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">comeback kid<\/a> <strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> led the way again in the 50 back, going 24.75. He was .17 up on <strong>Quintin McCarthy<\/strong> of NC State, and his fellow Wolfpacker <strong>Kaii Winkler<\/strong> placed third in 25.04.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adam Chaney<\/strong> was fourth in 25.18. The A final also includes <strong>Michael Andrew, David King, Grant Bochenski<\/strong> and <strong>Remi Fabiani,<\/strong> 25.36 required to get in.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daniel Diehl<\/strong> and <strong>Aiden Hayes<\/strong> are among the B finalists.<\/p>\n<h4>Women\u2019s 400 IM<\/h4>\n<p>Teenager <strong>Sydney Schoeck<\/strong> led the way with a best time in the 400 IM at 4:39.86. She was nearly two seconds ahead of <strong>Emma Weyant\u2019s<\/strong> 4:41.80 with another two seconds back to <strong>Katie Grimes<\/strong> in 4:43.70.<\/p>\n<p>Newly minted South African 200 IM record holder <strong>Aimee Canny<\/strong> is fourth in the 400 IM, her 4:44.66 still seven seconds shy of the national record. <strong>Audrey Derivaux, Caroline Bricker, Leah Hayes<\/strong> and 13-year-old <strong>Kate Allen<\/strong> round out the A final. <strong>Teagan O\u2019Dell<\/strong> was ninth.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s 400 IM<\/h4>\n<p>Canadian international <strong>Lorne Wiggington<\/strong> secured the top seed in the men\u2019s by going 4:17.13.
