Czech Junior National Finalist Daniel Mitka Pledges 2027 Verbal to Georgia Tech<\/strong><\/p>\n

NEW COMMIT: <\/strong>The Georgia Institute of Technology has picked up a new verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season from\u00a0Daniel Mitka\u00a0<\/strong>of Denver, Colorado. Mitka is a Junior National qualifier who excels in breaststroke and IM. He competes internationally for Czechia.<\/span><\/p>\n

He will join\u00a0Liam Drake<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in Atlanta as a member of the Yellow Jacket’s Class of 2031.<\/p>\n

Regarding his commitment, he said:<\/p>\n

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the Georgia Institute of Technology. First, I want to thank my parents for supporting me from the beginning, allowing me to move on my own at the age of 16, and helping me chase my dreams. Thank you to Coach Shawn, Coach Todd, Coach Martina, Coach Sam, Ed, and Andrew for everything you have done for me. Lastly, special thank you to Coach Iago for giving me this opportunity, and to the whole Georgia Tech community for welcoming me. STING \u2018EM”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mitka, who does his club swimming with University of Denver Hilltoppers, earned seven best times at Four Corner Speedo Sectionals in March where he had five top-8 finishes. That was after he won three events at Colorado Seniors in February.<\/p>\n

While competing for Czechia, Mitka helped set a national record as part of the mixed 4x50m medley relay at the 2022 Winter Championships in Mlad\u00e1 Boleslav. He finaled in three events at the 2025 Czech Open National Championships and earned bronze in the 400m IM at the 2025 Czech Junior National Championships.<\/p>\n
