James Hickman Named CEO of Swimming New South Wales<\/strong><\/p>\n

Swimming New South Wales is pleased to announce the appointment of James Hickman<\/strong> (OLY) as its new Chief Executive Officer.<\/p>\n

Hickman steps into the role after nearly three years with the organisation, most recently serving as Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer, where he has played a key role in strengthening financial performance, growing participation and enhancing stakeholder engagement across the sport.<\/p>\n

A former Olympian and lifelong participant in swimming he brings more than 20 years of experience across elite sport and over 15 years in senior leadership roles spanning sport, commercial and not-for-profit organisations in Australia and internationally.<\/p>\n

Swimming NSW President Graeme Field<\/strong> said Hickman\u2019s appointment reflects both his proven leadership and deep understanding of the sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cJames brings a wealth of experience and a strong connection to swimming at every level,\u201d Field said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past three years, he has demonstrated outstanding leadership across key areas of the organisation and has built strong relationships with our stakeholders, clubs and partners.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Board is confident James has the capability to build on the strong foundations in place and lead Swimming NSW through its next phase of growth, while continuing to strengthen participation, support our clubs and ensure long-term sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\n

In accepting the role, Hickman said he was honoured to lead the organisation and the sport he has been part of throughout his life.<\/p>\n

\u201cSwimming has given me so much, and it\u2019s a privilege to now lead Swimming NSW into its next phase,\u201d Hickman said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past three years, I\u2019ve had the opportunity to work closely with our clubs, coaches, officials and staff, and I\u2019ve seen firsthand both the strength of our sport and the challenges we need to address.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy focus as CEO will be on strengthening the foundations of the sport, supporting our clubs and ensuring Swimming NSW continues to grow in a sustainable and modern way. Strong clubs are the foundation of a strong sport, and that will be central to our approach moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hickman will commence in the role on April 27.<\/p>\n

Swimming NSW looks forward to working with Hickman as the organisation continues to support and grow swimming across New South Wales.<\/p>\n
