OLYMPIAN Chad Carvin had no trouble at all as he cruised to victory in the 1000 yard freestyle on the first night of competition at the Kerr-McGee Elite Pro-Am meet in Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n<p>The 29 year-old veteran representing Mission Viejo clocked 8:52.81 for the 1000, lapping the entire field and outdistancing his nearest competitor by almost 32 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#39;s race was a lot closer, but 16 year-old Justine Schluntz, swimming for the Duke Swim Club in New Mexico, emerged the winner with a margin of four seconds.  Schluntz clocked a pr 9:57.21.<\/p>\n<p>Finishing in eighth place was 41 year-old Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen, whose 10:20.45 was not only a national Masters mark for women 40-44, but it was also a lifetime best by two-plus seconds for the ever-youthful Pipes-Neilsen.<\/p>\n<p>In the 800 free relay, 17 year-old Codie Hansen turned in the most noteworthy swim.  The Dallas Mustangs&#39; lead-off swimmer clocked 1:48.12 to give her team a lead it never relinquished, as it finished in 7:21.60.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma, December 18.
