It recounts the run from 1952 to 1976 in which the program won eight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) titles.<\/p>\n<p>The documentary stemmed from a meeting of swimming alumni in September 2025 when the team was inducted <a href=\"https:\/\/afro.com\/legacy-morgan-state-swimmers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to the school\u2019s athletic hall of fame<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople don\u2019t know this story,\u201d said <strong>Greg Jones<\/strong>, a producer and the vice chairperson of Morgan Legacy Swimmers. \u201cThey don\u2019t know about the eight championships. They don\u2019t know that everybody had to take swimming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The trailer is available here:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"vimeo-player\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/1179387992?h=d9683a962e\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Morgan State is a historically Black college and university (HBCU) based in Baltimore. It no longer sponsors swimming for men or women, with the program discontinued in the mid-1970s due to budget cuts at the school. The run of championships began <a href=\"https:\/\/morganstatebears.com\/news\/2024\/6\/11\/general-morgan-state-swimmers-champions-of-ciaa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">with outstanding teams in the 1950s<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/meacsports.com\/news\/2020\/6\/4\/general-classic-bear-recap-morgan-swimmers-edges-c-state-for-meac-title.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">continued into the 1970s<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe history of it just grabbed me, and as I began to look at it, I said, \u2018Man, we need to talk about this. We need to celebrate this,\u2019\u201d said <strong>David Thomas<\/strong>, co-chairperson of Morgan Legacy Swimmers and a member of Morgan State\u2019s 1972 swim team. \u201cOne of the reasons why we are so adamant about this is because the program no longer exists.
