It took a new face to get them over the top.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emilio Trevino<\/strong> earned the program\u2019s first NCAA platform title Saturday night, his score of 465.30 topping the field at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>Purdue\u2019s <strong>Tyler Wills<\/strong> was second with a score of 451.15, with Jesus Gonzalez of Florida third.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m speechless,&#8221; Trevino said. &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to say that I wasn&#8217;t expecting it. I knew that I was prepared, I was ready. It was just part of confidence and trust in myself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A year ago, Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Jaxon Bowshire<\/strong> finished second as a freshman, with senior <strong>Rhett Hensley<\/strong> fourth. Bowshire <a href=\"https:\/\/12thman.com\/news\/2026\/3\/11\/swimming-and-diving-trio-of-aggie-divers-advance-to-ncaas-on-final-day-of-zones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">qualified for NCAAs at Zones<\/a>, but the Australian international did not compete.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/swimmeetresults.tech\/NCAA-Division-I-Men-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2026-ncaa-division-i-mens-swimming-and-diving-championship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Complete Meet Coverage<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That opened the door for Trevino, a Mexican international. He\u2019s the first Texas A&amp;M diver to win a title since <strong>Kurtis Mathews<\/strong> did the springboard double in 2022 and the program\u2019s first platform NCAA champion.<\/p>\n<p>Trevino was just seventh in prelims, making the final by less than three points, with Gonzalez leading the way with a score of 435.05.<\/p>\n<p>No matter, since Trevino scored 465.30 to best Wills and Gonzalez at night. Gonzalez was third with 427.25. <strong>Carson Paul<\/strong> of LSU was fourth in 404.20. <strong>Misha Andriyuk,<\/strong> the only holdover from the top eight last year after he finished eighth as a freshman, was fifth for Stanford.<\/p>\n<p>Trevino had been 32nd on 3-meter and didn\u2019t contest 1-meter. He was happy just to make finals, and after mid-day phone calls with his girlfriend and his mom, he reset to treat the final as a completely different thing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Just making today\u2019s final, it was a really big goal for me,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Coming here as a freshman, as international student, was something new for me. These competitions are typically different to the ones that I was used to. But after I knew that I was in the final, I almost didn&#8217;t make it to the A final. So I was just a new full mindset, a new mentality, a new competition for me, and I just went through and give my best in every dive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Paul, a senior, makes it four straight top-10 finishes on platform: He was ninth last year and as a freshman and sixth in 2024.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joshua Thai<\/strong> of Cal likewise wraps up a stellar career in sixth. He was 10th in 2024 and 14th in 2023, around a perplexing 40th last year. USC\u2019s <strong>Laurent Gosselin-Paradis<\/strong> was seventh; he had been 11th each of the last two years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bennett Greene<\/strong> of Tennessee got into the A final and finished eighth. He\u2019s the only scorer on all three boards, having finished third on 1-meter and eighth on three-meter.<\/p>\n<p>Gonzalez led the way in prelims. Second was Andriyuk, with Bennett third. Wills was the only other swimmer to crack 400 points.<\/p>\n<p>Purdue had two B finalists. Indiana finally got its first diving scorer, <strong>Maxwell Weinrich<\/strong> finishing 13th.
