And she had Sticklen for inspiration.<\/p>\n<p>Stoll went 1:50.26 in a back-and-forth dual with <strong>Alex Shackell,<\/strong> the Texas senior taking the title by .14 seconds at the wall. Shackell was second in 1:50.40. Both were under the McAuley Aquatic Center of 1:50.61 from <strong>Kelsi Worrell<\/strong> that had stood since 2016.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/swimmeetresults.tech\/NCAA-Division-I-Women-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/a-final-look-at-the-psych-sheets-for-the-ncaa-womens-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psych Sheets<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/virginia-favored-to-win-sixth-consecutive-ncaa-womens-title-team-standings-predictions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Preview<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2026-ncaa-division-i-womens-swimming-and-diving-championship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCAA Women\u2019s Championships Meet Page<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncaa.com\/news\/swimming-women\/article\/2026-02-25\/2026-ncaa-di-womens-swimming-and-diving-championships-schedule-selections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Streaming Information<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s definitely an honor to kind of continue the legacy of the fly school, being at Texas, and to learn everything from <strong>Kelly Pash, Olivia Bray,<\/strong> <strong>Emma Sticklen<\/strong> and all of the ones who came before,&#8221; Stoll said. &#8220;It&#8217;s truly incredible to kind of carry the torch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sticklen, now an assistant coach with Penn, wasn&#8217;t on deck Saturday. But he was watching. Stoll heard in the back of her mind Sticklen&#8217;s exhortation that, &#8216;OK, when I&#8217;m done, you\u2019ve got to carry the torch. I&#8217;m passing it to you.&#8221; She got the text to that effect pretty soon after.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She texted me right after, and was like, \u2018I can&#8217;t even say I couldn&#8217;t believe it, because I knew you could do it,\u2019&#8221; Stoll said. &#8220;So just having that on my back, it was really nice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Shackell was first at 50 yards by .01 seconds. Stoll was first at 100 yards by .02 seconds. They turned for home with Shackell opening up a relatively dominant .14-second lead. But Stoll came back in 29.93, the second-fastest of the meet, to edge the 30.31 of Shackell and claim the second national title for Texas this week, joining <strong>Jillian Cox<\/strong> in the mile.<\/p>\n<p>Stoll was seventh in this race last year and 12th as a freshman.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hannah Bellard<\/strong> of Michigan had the fastest final 50 in the field at 29.79 to finish third in 1:51.17. She had been fifth last year and 11th as a freshman.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tess Howley<\/strong> of Virginia was fourth for a third straight year, this time in 1:51.69. She beat Stanford\u2019s <strong>Caroline Bricker,<\/strong> down two spots from last year to fifth. Tennessee got sixth and seventh with <strong>Emily Brown<\/strong> and <strong>Ella Jansen,<\/strong> respectively. Cal\u2019s <strong>Lilou Ressencourt<\/strong> was eighth.<\/p>\n<p>Stanford picked up solid points with <strong>Charlotte Hook<\/strong> in 10th.
