She was sixth in this race last year and fourth in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Bell split 31.3 on three of her four legs of the 200 breast. She was 31.28 on Saturday in that stroke, then her 26.75 coming home was the fastest of the freestyle legs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was excited for this 2-IM,&#8221; Bell said. &#8220;I think it was the most up-in-the-air one for me. So I felt a little less pressure. I was like, I&#8217;m just going to go for it. And then when I turned on the back to breast, I was like, Oh, I&#8217;m still behind everybody. So I just had to really, just calm myself down in that moment and be like, I can still do well with my back half and just trust all my training and everything that people have told me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Teagan O\u2019Dell,<\/strong> who was first at 100 yards, finished second for Cal in 1:52.76. She has the 200 back final later in the night. Her teammate <strong>Mia West<\/strong> was third in 1:52.69; she was first after 50 yards. <strong>Anastasia Gorbenko,<\/strong> one of the other breaststrokers in the group, was in good position in third as they turned to that stroke, but Bell was two seconds quicker than her in the 50. Gorbenko was fourth in 1:52.98.<\/p>\n<p>Fifth was Texas\u2019 <strong>Campbell Chase,<\/strong> her 1:53.48 edging Virginia\u2019s <strong>Aimee Canny<\/strong> by .01 seconds. Canny and<strong> Leah Hayes<\/strong> augmented the Virginia title parade \u2013 another 28 points in the bank \u2013 while UCLA\u2019s <strong>Rosie Murphy<\/strong> was eighth.<\/p>\n<p>Texas, which has been short in individual scorers, got <strong>Angie Coe<\/strong> in ninth. Pitt\u2019s <strong>Sydney Gring<\/strong> was 11th in another top-11 swim for the Panthers.
