It’s the fourth-fastest time among the five in the streak, a half-second shy of the NCAA record set at 1:31.10 in 2025, of which Curzan is the only holdover.

Virginia took down the pool record of 1:32.16 set by the 2022 UVA squad at NCAAs.

Stanford and Louisville tied for second with Tennessee fourth. California, which entered as the sixth seed, was disqualified.

Live Results

Psych Sheets

Preview

NCAA Women’s Championships Meet Page

Streaming Information

Curzan swam backstroke last year but split 21.51 in butterfly Wednesday, the fastest in the field and the only sub-22 swim. Curtis’ split of 22.73 was the quickest, only she and Stanford’s Torri Huske (22.98) breaking 23 seconds.

Greenwaldt was just seventh-fastest among the anchors at 21.01. Weber split 26.24 in a field with five swims in the 25s.

The history of Virginia in this event and the expectations that brings might have informed some of the nerves involved.

“I was fully shaking on the blocks,” Weber said. “I think my back foot was about to fall off (the block), but I was super, super nervous because especially in this relay, we had a lot to prove. We all wanted to do it for each other.”

Louisville charged home via a 20.71 split from Julia Dennis to knot up with Stanford for second. Both teams went 1:32.35. Huske was joined by Lucy Thomas, Gigi Johnson and Anna Olasewere in the Cardinal finishing second for the second straight year. (The last pickup was a slow one, Olasewere leaving .45 seconds on the block.)

Louisville was third last year. Julie Mishler, Anastasia Gorbenko (a race-best 25.44) and Caroline Larsen joined Dennis.

Tennessee finished fourth in 1:32.66, with NC State fifth in 1:33.05. The Lady Vols were just 13th in this event last year.

California was fourth last year and seeded sixth, but a jump by Mia West on the anchor leg denied the Golden Bears a chance to joust with NC State for fifth and any points in the race.

Michigan was sixth. Texas bumps up to seventh, swimming out of the morning slowest heats.

Given the changes for Virginia in its quest for a sixth straight title, the poise of this medley relay might, by week’s end, be looked back on as a potent harbinger.

“It means a lot,” Curtis said. “Especially for me, everything is new. I’m in another country and doing it for the first time. This is special for me. Doing it with these girls is more special. It means a lot for all of our team.”

Event 2 Women 200 Yard Medley Relay
==================================================================================
         NCAA: N 1:31.10 3/19/2025 Virginia
                          C Curzan, A Walsh, G Walsh, M Parker
         Meet: M 1:31.10 3/19/2025 Virginia
                          C Curzan, A Walsh, G Walsh, M Parker
     American: A 1:31.10 3/19/2025 Virginia
                          C Curzan, A Walsh, G Walsh, M Parker
      US Open: O 1:31.10 3/19/2025 Virginia
                          C Curzan, A Walsh, G Walsh, M Parker
         Pool: P 1:32.16 3/18/2022 Virginia
                          G Walsh, A Wegner, A Cuomo, K Douglass
    School Seed Finals Points
==================================================================================
  1 Virginia 1:31.91 1:31.67P 40
     1) Curtis, Sara FR 2) r:0.31 Weber, Emma SR
     3) r:0.06 Curzan, Claire JR 4) r:0.20 Greenwaldt, Bryn SR
    r:+0.65 11.04 22.73 (22.73)
          34.62 (11.89) 49.15 (26.42)
           58.65 (9.50) 1:10.66 (21.51)
         1:20.52 (9.86) 1:31.67 (21.01)
  2 Stanford 1:32.94 1:32.35 33
     1) Huske, Torri SR 2) r:0.00 Thomas, Lucy JR
     3) r:0.24 Johnson, Gigi SR 4) r:0.45 Olasewere, Annam FR
    r:+0.69 11.31 22.98 (22.98)
          34.15 (11.17) 48.86 (25.88)
          58.96 (10.10) 1:11.00 (22.14)
        1:21.13 (10.13) 1:32.35 (21.35)
  2 Louisville 1:32.26 1:32.35 33
     1) Mishler, Julie FR 2) r:0.10 Gorbenko, Anastasia SO
     3) r:0.15 Larsen, Caroline SO 4) r:0.22 Dennis, Julia SR
    r:+0.56 11.72 23.79 (23.79)
          35.10 (11.31) 49.23 (25.44)
           59.03 (9.80) 1:11.64 (22.41)
         1:21.40 (9.76) 1:32.35 (20.71)
  4 Tennessee 1:32.80 1:32.66 30
     1) Crooks, Jillian SO 2) r:0.17 Siroky, McKenzie SO
     3) r:0.30 Hirai, Mizuki FR 4) r:0.32 Spink, Camille JR
    r:+0.55 11.85 23.78 (23.78)
          35.24 (11.46) 49.37 (25.59)
           59.35 (9.98) 1:11.88 (22.51)
         1:21.66 (9.78) 1:32.66 (20.78)
  5 NC State 1:33.56 1:33.05 28
     1) Shackley, Leah SO 2) r:0.23 Jefimova, Eneli FR
     3) r:0.20 Pelaez, Erika SO 4) r:0.24 Nel, Olivia SR
    r:+0.55 11.51 23.32 (23.32)
          34.97 (11.65) 49.13 (25.81)
           59.08 (9.95) 1:11.64 (22.51)
        1:21.81 (10.17) 1:33.05 (21.41)
  6 Michigan 1:33.26 1:33.18 26
     1) Sims, Bella JR 2) r:0.03 Sim, Letitia SR
     3) r:0.12 Kendall, Brady SR 4) r:0.08 Greenhawt, Lexi JR
    r:+0.57 11.67 23.37 (23.37)
          35.06 (11.69) 49.89 (26.52)
           59.81 (9.92) 1:12.21 (22.32)
         1:21.98 (9.77) 1:33.18 (20.97)
  7 Texas 1:34.52 1:33.38 24
     1) Kern, Emma JR 2) r:0.03 Enge, Piper SO
     3) r:0.26 Stoll, Campbell JR 4) r:0.16 Okaro, Eva FR
    r:+0.53 11.79 23.79 (23.79)
          35.34 (11.55) 49.87 (26.08)
        1:00.04 (10.17) 1:12.60 (22.73)
         1:22.36 (9.76) 1:33.38 (20.78)
  8 Alabama 1:33.63 1:33.81 22
     1) Jones, Emily SR 2) r:0.22 Rosendale, Charotte SR
     3) r:0.28 Giele, Tessa SR 4) r:-0.02 Vincent, Cadence JR
    r:+0.64 11.58 23.39 (23.39)
          35.14 (11.75) 50.06 (26.67)
        1:00.24 (10.18) 1:12.82 (22.76)
         1:22.74 (9.92) 1:33.81 (20.99)

NCAA Women’s Championships: Virginia Wins Fifth Straight 200 Medley Relay The names have changed, but Virginia’s spot atop the 200 medley relay podium hasn’t.
