{"id":638821,"date":"2026-03-17T21:48:35","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T04:48:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=638821"},"modified":"2026-03-17T21:58:44","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T04:58:44","slug":"kristina-orban-maurice-grabowski-named-cscaa-division-ii-swimmers-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kristina-orban-maurice-grabowski-named-cscaa-division-ii-swimmers-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Kristina Orban, Maurice Grabowski Named CSCAA Division II Swimmers of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kristina Orban, Maurice Grabowski Named CSCAA Division II Swimmers of the Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kristina Orban<\/strong> of Nova Southeastern and Lynn\u2019s <strong>Maurice Grabowski<\/strong> were named the Division II Swimmers of the Year by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America <a href=\"https:\/\/cscaa.org\/cscaa-announces-2026-division-ii-coach-athlete-of-the-year-awards-all-america-selections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>National championship coaches <strong>Ben Hewitt<\/strong> of Nova Southeastern and <strong>Jimi Kiner<\/strong> of Tampa won the coaching awards. Hewitt led Nova Southeastern to its fourth consecutive NCAA women\u2019s title; he won the award in 2023 and 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Kiner won the award in 2024 when Tampa last won the men\u2019s title.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/ncaa-division-ii-coverage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCAA Division II Coverage<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Orban won three individual and three relay titles at the NCAA Championships last weekend in Evansville, Indiana. She claimed gold in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-division-ii-championships-day-3-finals-kristina-orban-wins-100-fly-and-200-free-as-nova-southeastern-leads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in the same session<\/a>, then captured the 100 free. Orban also helped Nova Southeastern set NCAA records in the 200 medley and 400 free relays as well was winning the 800 free relay.<\/p>\n<p>Lynn\u2019s Grabowski was sensational, winning four NCAA title. He claimed the 50 free, 100 free, 100 fly and 100 backstroke. He also helped Lynn set the NCAA record in the 200 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Clarion\u2019s <strong>Luna Castellanos<\/strong> was named the women\u2019s diver of the year. She won the 1-meter event at NCAAs and finished third on 3-meter, an event won by teammate <strong>Colleen Hudson.<\/strong> Her coach, <strong>Heath Calhoun,<\/strong> was an easy pick for women\u2019s diving coach of the year for the fourth straight season. Golden Eagles finished first, third and fourth on 1-meter and first, second, third and sixth on 3-meter.<\/p>\n<p>Delta State\u2019s <strong>Santiago Santodomingo<\/strong> was named men\u2019s diver of the year. He won 3-meter diving at NCAAs and finished third.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s diving coach of the year honor went to <strong>Julie Weddle<\/strong> of Colorado Mesa. She coached <strong>Ryan Campbell<\/strong> to runner-up finishes on both 1-meter and 3-meter. The Mavericks had four 3-meter finalists and three in the top nine on 1-meter, CMU scoring 92 points that were instrumental to them finishing third in the team standings.<\/p>\n<p>The full list of All-American honors <a href=\"https:\/\/cscaa.org\/cscaa-announces-2026-division-ii-coach-athlete-of-the-year-awards-all-america-selections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is available here<\/a>.
