Naperville Central (Ill.) Swim Coach Resigns After Swimmer Injured During TP Tradition<\/strong><\/p>\n

Naperville Central High School head swimming coach Mike Adams<\/strong> has resigned from his post, following a team incident that left him on administrative leave.<\/p>\n

According to sources, the boys team had a toilet paper night before the season for their girls team to celebrate Sectionals, a tradition that has gone on for years at Naperville Central and other area high schools. Freshman wrestling also occurred during the night and has been part of the tradition.<\/p>\n

During the course of the evening, one of the swimmers was injured, and officials at the school placed Adams on administrative leave since he knew about the situation.<\/p>\n

Adams coached the boys team for 33 years, the girls team for 13. During his tenure, the boys team won the state championship in 2002 and 2010.<\/p>\n

Two of the top swimmers left the team at the beginning of the season, but most of the team remained intact.<\/p>\n

Neither Adams, nor the school responded for requests for comment.<\/p>\n

NCHS administration has hired Brian O’Dowd<\/strong>, a club coach for MAVS who stepped in as head coach for the boys.\u00a0Krista Gensler<\/strong> was picked as girls head coach.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
