The initiative is designed \u201cto empower\u201d swimmers aged 14-18 \u201cto become advocates for water safety, environmental responsibility, and positive community engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The World Aquatics Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the sport\u2019s global governing body, is partnering with <strong>Ian Zhang\u2019s<\/strong> WeSwim and <strong>Rowdy Gaines\u2019<\/strong> Step Into Swim <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/step-into-swim-and-every-child-a-swimmer-combine-forces-to-prevent-childhood-drowning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">program<\/a>. They and others will offer \u201cstructured mentorship, educational masterclasses, and opportunities to implement projects that address water safety, community development, and sustainable practices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Drowning prevention is a cause that is deeply personal to me,\u201d Zhang said. \u201cThis program offers a platform for young leaders to collaborate, learn from one another, and take meaningful action in their communities. Through peer-to-peer development, these Emerging Leaders will not only enhance their skills but also promote water safety as a critical life skill.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Swimming has the power to transform lives and prevent tragedies,\u201d Gaines said. \u201cThrough Step Into Swim, we have worked to make swimming accessible to all. The Emerging Leaders Program extends this mission to a global audience as these young leaders will combine their creativity, passion, and leadership to make a tangible impact in their communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Emerging Leaders Program will start with participants from Europe, China and the United States, each taking part in a one-yar program activated around World Aquatic\u2019s Swimming World Cup events.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Phase 1: Onboarding and Virtual Learning \u2013 Masterclasses covering aquatic sports that emphasize Olympic values, water safety, youth leadership, digital storytelling, and responsible social media use. Participants receive mentorship from Ian Zhang, Rowdy Gaines, and other experts.<\/li>\n<li>Phase 2: Local Projects and Digital Challenges \u2013 Implementation of community-based initiatives supported by a digital creativity toolkit and expert coaching focused on content creation and storytelling.
